🌟 Therapy for Understanding, Connection and Meaningful Change
Support for teens and adults navigating anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, self-worth, relationships, identity, grief, life transitions and other challenges. Patrick (Pat) Gallaher, ACSW, offers grounded, collaborative therapy centered on your experiences, values and goals.
A Space for Authentic Connection
💬 “You are the expert on your own experience. Therapy is not about someone else telling you who to become. It is about having a place to understand yourself more deeply and discover what comes next.”
Therapy with Pat does not require you to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong or having the perfect words to explain how you feel. You may know precisely what brought you here, or you may simply have the sense that something in your life needs attention.
Maybe anxiety has become harder to quiet. Stress follows you from one part of your life into another. A relationship feels different, grief has changed the landscape beneath your feet, or a transition has left you questioning what comes next. Perhaps you are struggling with confidence, feeling disconnected from yourself, caught in familiar patterns, or simply tired of trying to figure everything out alone.
Pat offers a grounded, conversational space where you can begin wherever you are. His approach is rooted in curiosity, respect and the belief that you remain the expert on your own experience. You do not have to perform, have everything figured out or become a different version of yourself to belong in the therapy room.
🧠 This is therapy for people who:
🌪️ Feel anxious, stressed, overwhelmed or emotionally stretched thin
🔍 Want to better understand themselves, their patterns or the stories they carry
💬 Find themselves overthinking, second-guessing or struggling with confidence
🤝 Are navigating relationships, connection, communication or changing dynamics
🌿 Are moving through grief, loss, uncertainty or a significant life transition
🧭 Feel stuck, disconnected or unsure about who they are or where they are headed
🌊 Want a place to make sense of difficult experiences without judgment or pressure
If something here feels familiar, Pat offers a steady place to begin making sense of what you are carrying and exploring what you want for yourself moving forward.
🛠️ My Approach to Therapy
Therapy with Pat is collaborative, grounded and human. He believes the therapeutic relationship matters more than performing therapy perfectly, and that clinical tools are most useful when they serve the person rather than asking the person to fit the tool.
Pat supports clients as they:
🧭 Better understand themselves, their values and what matters to them
🌪️ Navigate anxiety, stress and emotional overwhelm
🌱 Explore confidence, self-worth and the stories they have developed about themselves
🤝 Understand relational patterns and strengthen connection with others
🌿 Move through grief, loss, uncertainty and life transitions
🔍 Recognize patterns that may once have served a purpose but are no longer working
💬 Develop greater comfort expressing emotions, needs and experiences
🌊 Make sense of difficult experiences and create more choices for what comes next
Pat’s work begins with a person-centered foundation and may draw from:
🤝 Person-Centered Therapy for a collaborative relationship rooted in empathy, authenticity, autonomy and respect
🧠 Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for exploring connections between thoughts, emotions and behaviors
🌊 Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance and navigating difficult moments
🧭 Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for exploring values, psychological flexibility and meaningful action
🌱 Motivational Interviewing (MI) for compassionately exploring uncertainty, ambivalence and readiness for change
Pat believes you remain the expert on your own experience. His role is not to become the authority on your life. Instead, he walks alongside you, asks meaningful questions and offers perspective or practical tools when they are useful. Together, you can create space to explore the answers that make sense for you.
🤝 Who Pat Works Best With
Pat supports teens and adults navigating a wide range of emotional, relational and life experiences. You do not need to fit a particular diagnosis, identity or type of struggle to work with him.
He works especially well with people who:
🌪️ Are navigating anxiety, stress or emotional overwhelm
🌱 Want to strengthen confidence or develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves
🔍 Feel caught in patterns they understand intellectually but struggle to change
🤝 Want to better understand how they connect, communicate and relate to others
🌿 Are experiencing grief, loss, transition or uncertainty about what comes next
🧭 Are exploring identity, direction, belonging or a changing sense of self
💬 Have difficulty putting their internal experience into words or are unsure where to begin in therapy
🌊 Want support making sense of experiences that continue to affect how they feel or move through the world
Pat also understands that people arrive in therapy carrying identities, cultures, histories, relationships and perspectives that cannot be separated from their emotional lives. He brings curiosity rather than assumptions to those conversations. He believes meaningful connection does not require people to become more alike and that therapy should make room for the identities, cultures, experiences, relationships and perspectives that shape who you are.
You may know exactly why you are seeking therapy, or your starting point may simply be, “I know something needs to change.” Both are enough.
🔎 What to Expect in Therapy With Pat
Sessions with Pat are grounded, conversational and collaborative. He brings a steady presence without assuming that steadiness means having all the answers.
You can expect:
🧭 Curiosity before assumptions
🤝 Collaboration that respects your autonomy, needs and goals
💬 Honest conversation without unnecessary clinical jargon
🧠 Practical tools when tools are useful
🔍 Space to look beneath the immediate problem and understand larger patterns
🌿 Permission to move at a pace that allows meaningful exploration and change
Pat is comfortable acknowledging that some experiences do not have immediate or simple solutions. Therapy may involve learning a practical skill, challenging a familiar thought pattern, sitting with an emotion you usually avoid, exploring the history beneath a current struggle, or noticing something about yourself that you have never quite seen in the same way before.
Some sessions may bring clarity. Others may leave you with something new to consider. The work is not about Pat deciding where you should go. It is about creating a relationship where you have enough support, perspective and space to discover your own way forward.
🐢 A Little About Pat
Pat brings an unusually broad range of professional and lived experience into his work as a therapist. His background includes military service, leadership, emergency medicine, and fifteen years of working with people experiencing medical distress.
Those experiences taught Pat how to remain grounded when another person is having a difficult moment. He is not easily intimidated by uncertainty, strong emotions or conversations that do not have simple answers. They also gave him an appreciation for the many different ways people adapt when circumstances ask more of them than they expected.
His path into social work eventually invited him into a different kind of helping. In emergency medicine, there is often a problem that needs to be identified and addressed. Therapy asks for something different: the willingness to sit beside another person without taking over their story.
That distinction matters deeply to Pat.
He values authenticity, connection, curiosity and growth, and believes people should not have to perform a particular version of themselves in order to belong. His experiences across military service, healthcare, leadership and social work have given him different windows into human resilience while reinforcing something simple: every person who walks into the room brings a story that deserves to be understood on its own terms.
