Bring the Weird. Stay for the Balance.

Why Storm Haven?

A Sanctuary, Not a System

Let’s be real. You didn’t go into this field to be a productivity robot with a pulse. You’re here because you care—deeply—and you want your work to actually mean something. If you’re searching for therapist jobs in Temecula that let you be a real human and a great clinician, you might’ve just found your haven.

At Storm Haven, we offer more than just a job. We’re a refuge from burnout culture, a place where therapists can show up as their full selves (tattoos, sarcasm, existential dread and all), and still be grounded, effective professionals.

We’re not for everyone. We’re not chasing prestige or perfection. We’re building a haven—a steady, thoughtful, weirdly wonderful community of therapists who believe in real connection, evidence-based care, and a life that feels good on the inside, not just looks good on paper.

Here, your humanness isn’t a liability. It’s your greatest asset.

Our Mission & Vibe

The Heart of the Haven

Storm Haven was built on one core belief: connection is the catalyst for healing.

Our mission is to guide people through life’s messiest moments with authenticity, integrity, and heart. We hold space for deep grief, wild joy, crushing anxiety, hopeful change—and everything in between. And we don’t just hold space for our clients—we hold it for each other, too.

We blend evidence-based therapy with holistic wisdom, clinical depth with creativity, and professionalism with a very healthy dose of “please be exactly who you are.” We’re a crew of trauma-informed, soul-aware, boundary-honoring, curious humans who believe that good therapy changes lives—and that it should also feel good to provide.

We’re not just helping others weather the storm. We’re building a haven—for them and for ourselves.

Mission, Vision & Values

The Heartbeat of the Haven

Storm Haven exists because therapy shouldn’t feel like a soul-sucking checkbox. Our mission is to walk beside people in their messiest, most meaningful moments—with authenticity, integrity, and heart. We don’t just hold space for clients. We hold it for each other, too.

Our Vision?

To create a world where therapy feels like coming home to yourself. We imagine communities where authenticity is the norm, connection is prioritized, and therapists are allowed to be real humans—existential dread and all.

What We Value Around Here:

🌀 Authenticity over appearances – No masks, no performative wellness. Just real people doing real work.
🌿 Healing is nonlinear – We honor every part of the process: stuckness, chaos, joy, silence, breakthroughs.
⚡ Rebellion with purpose – We challenge outdated systems and reimagine what therapy can be.
🛠️ Empowerment through collaboration – Therapy is a partnership. So is being on this team.
🌌 Inclusivity + radical acceptance – Queer-affirming. Neurodivergent-affirming. Body-affirming. Culturally aware.
🌲 Community care as wellness – Healing happens in connection, and we walk that talk every day.

Who We Hire

Bring Your Weird. We’ll Bring the Snacks.

We’re not looking for perfect. We’re looking for real.

Storm Haven is built on connection, curiosity, and courageous authenticity—and that goes for our team, too. If you’re the kind of person who can hold space for grief and joy in the same breath, who doesn’t flinch at complexity, and who’s always down to keep learning… you might just belong here.

Here’s what makes someone a great fit:

  • You’re warm, grounded, and relational—with enough edge to keep things interesting.
  • You’re a lifelong learner, more interested in insight than ego.
  • You’re into collaboration and aren’t afraid to ask “What do you think?” in a team meeting.
  • You care deeply about inclusivity, nuance, and doing no harm—especially across identities and lived experiences.
  • You understand that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither are therapists.

We welcome therapists who are licensed or pre-licensed, who show up with heart, and who are ready to be part of something that values whole people over perfect personas.

Whether you quote Carl Jung or quote Schitt’s Creek, there’s room for you here.

Qualifications

Let’s Talk Logistics (Because Good Vibes Alone Don’t Pay the Liability Insurance)

We love authenticity, creativity, and a rebellious streak—but we also love professionalism, ethics, and documentation that doesn’t make our compliance team sweat.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

🎓 Education
Master’s degree (or higher) in a mental health-related field—Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, etc. Basically, you’ve done the work and earned your letters.

📋 Licensure

  • Associates: Active registration in California (AMFT, ASW, or APCC)
  • Licensed: Current California license (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD, or PhD)

🧠 Clinical Skillset
You’ve got a solid grasp on therapy work—whether you’re just starting out or a few years in—and you’re passionate about growing your craft. We value experience in individual, couple, and/or family therapy, and we love when people bring a niche or area of interest to the table.

🌍 Cultural Humility
You have an active commitment to practicing through a culturally sensitive lens. You get that therapy exists within systems, and you’re constantly learning how to do better.

🧾 Documentation & Tech
Let’s keep it honest: documentation is part of the gig. You’re comfortable with EHR systems, telehealth platforms, and crafting notes that actually reflect your work (and satisfy compliance standards).

🔎 Bonus Points If You…

  • Are trained in a specific modality or specialty (EMDR, DBT, ACT, etc.)
  • Have experience working with marginalized or underrepresented populations
  • Can hold your own in a team meeting full of passionate, smart, slightly weird people

Your Career Path at Storm Haven

The League of Extraordinary Therapists

We believe professional growth isn’t linear—it’s layered, nuanced, and sometimes nonlinear (like healing itself). Whether you’re fresh out of grad school or five years into full licensure, we’ve got a path that honors where you are and supports where you’re going.

Here’s how we grow together at Storm Haven:

🧪 Pre-Licensed Protégé

You’re learning the ropes with guidance, mentorship, and support from experienced clinicians. You’ll get the supervision you need, plus the kind of real-world wisdom you don’t find in textbooks. We won’t just help you get licensed—we’ll help you find your therapeutic identity.

🦸‍♀️ Licensed Hero

Your cape is official. You’re working more independently, supported by collaboration, peer consultation, and continued education. You’ve got a growing sense of clinical intuition, and we’ve got your back as you fine-tune your style and build a caseload you love.

🌀 League Member (2+ Years Licensed)

Now you’re mentoring others, leading a pod of therapists within the practice, and offering specialty trainings to your team and the larger field. You’re shaping the next generation of therapists while still staying curious in your own work. Your voice helps guide our culture.

🕯️ Master of the Craft (5+ Years Licensed)

You’ve been around the clinical block—and your wisdom is felt. You’re a consultant, a lighthouse, a legacy-builder. Whether it’s shaping policy, hosting workshops, or training clinicians nationwide, you’re influencing not just the practice—but the profession.

No matter where you start, we invest in your evolution. You don’t have to “wait your turn” to be seen as a leader, and you’re never boxed into a one-size-fits-all trajectory.

This is growth with soul—and with community.

Nerdy Roots, Real Impact

Storm Haven isn’t just a group practice—it’s part of a larger movement to help therapists grow in their clinical voice, creativity, and weird-but-wise ways of working.

That’s why our founder, Jen Hyatt, created The Nerdie Therapist—a blog, mentorship space, and unapologetically authentic hub for therapists who refuse to blend in.

What We Offer

Compensation & Perks – Transparent and Tangible

We don’t believe in vague promises or buzzword soup. We believe in claritysupport, and a compensation structure that honors your energy, your education, and your expertise.

Here’s what’s on the table:

💸 Compensation

  • Associates: Earn 40% of session revenue
  • Licensed Therapists: Earn 50% of session revenue
  • Our session fees range from $70 to $225, which means your pay per session typically falls between $28–$112.50
  • Your income will vary based on caseload and session types—but the math is transparent, and so are we.

Employment Type: This is a W-2, non-exempt position in the state of California.
Pay Structure: Compensation includes 40% (associate) or 50% (licensed) of session revenue, and a non-clinical hourly rate for mandatory meetings, required trainings, and supervision. All pay is issued semi-monthly based on revenue received.

💖 Benefits That Actually Matter

Health Insurance That Has Your Back

⚕️ We offer optional health insurance for team members consistently seeing  20 or more client sessions per week. We want you to be well—physically, emotionally, and financially.

Clinical Supervision & Mentorship

👥 Regular, thoughtful supervision and guidance at every stage of your career.

Ongoing Professional Growth

🌱 At Storm Haven, learning is baked into the culture—not stacked onto an already full plate. From shared resource libraries and access to free trainings, to the insight-rich blogs we publish and weekly mentoring sessions through Meeting of the Haven (MOTH), we cultivate collective wisdom in real time. Whether you’re integrating a new modality or reflecting on complex cases, you’ll never be growing alone.

Steady Referrals & Caseload Support

🎯 We help you build the caseload that aligns with your clinical passion—not just what’s available.

Wellness as a Way of Being

🌀 Wellness isn’t a buzzword here—it’s a daily practice. From leadership that respects your boundaries to space for actual breathing room, we’re building a culture where you can thrive, not just survive.

Flexible Work Options

🖥️ Hybrid is our default. You’ll have flexibility to work in-office, from home, or both—plus autonomy to shape your schedule within reason. We do ask that all clinicians are available for at least two in-person days per week at our Temecula office, and hold at least two evening time slots or one weekend day to meet client demand. Within that structure, we support you in building a rhythm that actually works for your life.

Time Off That’s Actually Respected

📅 When you’re off, you’re off. We believe in rest, vacations, and truly unplugging (without guilt).

Community Over Isolation

🫂 We’re a real team—not a collection of clinicians working in parallel. Collaboration, shared insight, and genuine connection are part of our day-to-day. Whether we’re troubleshooting a tough case, celebrating a win, or just checking in on one another, you won’t be navigating the work alone.

Recognition & Growth

🏆 We celebrate wins, honor milestones, and help you grow into leadership roles when the time feels right. But we also support you in carving out your unique voice and professional identity. At Storm Haven, many of our therapists go on to launch podcasts, market their niche, write blogs, develop courses, and more—with encouragement (not side-eye) from the team. We believe growth isn’t one-size-fits-all, and we’re here to help you expand in the ways that feel most meaningful to you.

We’re not trying to be everything to everyone. But if you’re looking for a workplace that feels like home—the cozy, boundary-honoring, soul-nourishing kind—and a place where your ideas have room to grow, you just might belong here.

Our Work Culture

Rooted in Realness

We’re not here for the performative wellness or passive-aggressive team “bonding.”
We’re here for real connection, real growth, and a shared commitment to doing good work while living good lives.

At Storm Haven, the culture is collaborative, curious, inclusive, and deeply human. You’ll find a team that respects autonomy and values togetherness—because we believe the best therapy doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and neither does the best therapist development.

Here’s what you can expect from our everyday vibe:

🫱🏽‍🫲🏿 Collaborative Spirit
Whether we’re consulting on cases, unpacking countertransference, or crowd-sourcing the perfect metaphor for a client stuck in survival mode, we actually collaborate. Our pods and team meetings are built around real support, not forced interaction.

🧠 Mentorship Without the Power Trip
You’ll be mentored, not micromanaged. We offer guidance, not gatekeeping—and we’re always down for a “what would you do here?” conversation that makes us all better.

🌎 Inclusion That’s Intentional
We value diverse identities, lived experiences, and ways of showing up. That means our practice is committed to equity, cultural humility, and continued reflection—not just because it’s “important,” but because it’s ethical and necessary.

🔄 Open Feedback Loops
Feedback isn’t something we save for annual reviews. We normalize ongoing conversations—whether it’s sharing appreciation, offering support, or addressing something that feels off. Everyone’s voice matters here. (Yes, even if you’re still figuring yours out.)

🧡 Space to Be a Human
You can show up sad. You can show up quirky. You can even show up tired and in need of support. We believe in showing up as you are, not who you think you should be.

Storm Haven is a place where curiosity is encouraged, autonomy is respected, and weirdness is welcome. It’s not perfect—but it’s real, and it’s growing with intention.

FAQ – The Real Talk

What’s the schedule like?

Flexible, within reason. We ask for availability on at least two evenings or one weekend day, plus at least two in-person days per week at our Temecula office. Beyond that, you build a schedule that works for you and your clients.

How many clients will I see per week?

Our minimum is 15 sessions per week, with a recommended range up to 25 sessions if that fits your flow. No pressure to overload—just steady, sustainable caseload-building.

How long does it take to build a caseload?

It depends on your niche, availability, season, and whether you’re paneled with insurance. For some, it’s a few weeks. For others, it can take several months. We’ll support you along the way with referrals, visibility, and collaborative strategy.

What’s documentation like at Storm Haven?

We don’t treat notes like an afterthought—or like they should take over your life. Documentation is part of the work, and we hold it to a high standard, but we also believe in keeping it meaningful, manageable, and clinically aligned. You’ll get support around systems, flow, and avoiding late-night charting marathons.

How often are meetings or supervision?

Our team meets weekly for Meeting of the Haven (MOTH)—an intentional space for mentoring, collaboration, and staying connected. Clinical supervision is available weekly (and more if needed), depending on licensure status. We also offer space for one-on-one support and spontaneous “can I run something by you?” chats.

Is there flexibility with remote work?

Yes—we’re hybrid by design. We do require two in-office days per week, but the rest of your schedule can include remote sessions, depending on client needs and your preference.

What kind of therapist thrives at Storm Haven?

Someone who’s curious, self-aware, collaborative, values-aligned, and ready to show up as a real human. You don’t have to be flashy or flawless—just someone who’s in it for the right reasons and open to growth.

What technology and tools will I have access to?

We provide a secure EHR system, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, onboarding support, and shared access to helpful tools, trainings, and clinical resources. You’ll have what you need to do the work—and do it well.

Final Words

A Soft Landing. A Brave Beginning.

Storm Haven isn’t for everyone—and that’s intentional.

We’re not building a mega practice or chasing prestige. We’re cultivating something quieter, deeper, and more sustainable: a true haven for both therapists and clients. A place where your weirdness is welcomed, your insight is honored, and your growth isn’t just encouraged—it’s expected.

If you’re looking for a workplace where:

  • ✅ Authenticity is valued more than performance
  • ✅ Balance isn’t a buzzword
  • ✅ You’re trusted to be both a healer and a human

you might’ve just found your people.
